Hue sensors - unable to adjust motion sensitivity

Hi guys,

I’m using Philips HUE motion sensors with ZHA. I think I was able to adjust motion sensitivity earlier, but now that control has been grayed out. When I select “Motion sensitivity” in the configuration, a pop up says “This entity is no longer being provided by the zha integration. If the entity is no longer in use, delete it in settings.”.

How can I fix this so that I’m able to adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensors in my automations? My cats are driving me (and my lights) crazy…

I’m kinda new to this, so please reply as if writing to a 10 year old.

Look at the Device information for the sensor, and relate which sensor you’re talking about.

Try to reset the device, then add it back like you would a new ZHA device. It should be recognized and be given the same name it has now. You may need to try this several times before that takes hold. If you have trouble, after resetting it remove the batteries for a few moments, then put the batteries back and add the sensor as you normally would.

Thanks @bob.t but the issue is not related to a specific Hue motion sensor. The issue applies to all my Hue motion sensors added via ZHA.

I can confirm the same and it applies to indoor and outdoor Hue motion sensors of which I have multiple:

I have quite a few Philips Hue Motion Sensors (SML001 and SML003), and I found the sensitive entity for SML003 no longer available, while the zigbee network work solid (119 devices) and two of my SML001 dropped from the network in same week. I am able to factory reset them and re-add them back to Home Assistant however they both stopped working, after initial onboarding is done all three sensors (temp, humid & occupancy) stopped working.

I have completely no idea and do not want to take the risk to factory reset one more SML001 from the network just to find out the truth because I do not have a spare motion sensor in the area.

This issue seems to have been introduced in 2026.2. In my case, everything was working. I updated to 2026.2 and now I see the same issue that you are reporting with all my hue motion sensors. I googled it and It seems it has happened before with previous HA updates breaking the same motion sensitivity parameter in ZHA. I guess we have to wait for an update that fixes the issue.

Sorry, I’m no help, then. I switched to Z2M some months ago, and I don’t see the same issues that you experience.

Thanks @bob.t @albertojbs @willliamchan @Orange-GT3
Who should I report the issue to; ZHA?

Create an issue on Github under Core, I guess.

Just today I had another SML001 disconnected from the network, and again I have no problem factory reset and re-add it to ZHA. However all sensors stays with the state the moment it add to ZHA and no longer updating.

I have in total 7 x SML001 and 11 x SML003. While all 11 SML003 still working and 3 of 7 SML001 dropped from network and all behave the same as described from above.

@marwal83 Do you have an issue created yet? If so please share the link here.

EDITED - I have one created here Philips Hue Motion Sensor (SML001) stopped working with ZHA · Issue #162863 · home-assistant/core · GitHub, feel free to chip in.

Thank you @willliamchan for reporting it! It seems it should get fixed with tomorrow’s update. Looking forward to it.

Yay - motion sensitivity configuration is available again after the update :slightly_smiling_face:

@willliamchan, I didn’t register an issue. Thanks for making sure it was fixed
