I added power monitors and contact sensors to the doors of my washer and dryer. Then setup various helpers, a custom card and automations to define when the washer/dryer is on/off/needs unloading. The card shows green when on, yellow when needs unloading with number of minutes elapsed (No power usage, door not opened since power draw went to 0).
You can use any power monitors/plugs and any contact sensors. And you can define the thresholds to define when it should change to on/off.
It's configured as a HACS install. You can add the repo to custom HACS repos to check it out.
