I cant Reinstall HACS

I think i had a corrupted hacs , as it would not load,
so i decided to try and completely remove it as i had already tried reinstalling and reloading several times but i am getting a error saying that its already and instance installed. error “Only a single configuration of HACS is allowed.”
i have tried deleting everything contained with the custom components configuration file. TIA

the add on keeps stopping and i see this in the logs

Hi, there are a lot of similar topics, have you checked them?

You have to remove the config entry for HACS. Deleting from disk isnt enough.

i could only find older topics and related to music assistant , i dont have music assistant and have tried what i can find on those topics.

thanks I’m trying your solution but i cant find anything in the config entry i have deleted from the disc everything in the custom components folder and the .storage/hacs but i cant see any trace of it else where.

is it here
/homeassistant/.storage/core.config_entries

tia

Yes it is there

backup that file and stop HA before editing it.

i had already jumped the gun before i saw your reply, and deleted the line there containing hacs before stopping HA, i restarted and have added the addon but i still see the warning in the addon log
WARN: HACS directory already exist, cleaning up…

im just doing a roll back to yesterdays backup as now i have absolutely no devices or integrations and then will try that again.

sorry if im being silly, but how do i edit that file if HA is stopped

Ah. You use HAOS. I am sorry, but I have no clue. I don’t use HA operating system. SSH maybe?

im afraid thats corrupted the file

Storage corruption detected for core.config_entriesCritical ⸱ Reported by Home Assistant Core Integration

The core.config_entries storage could not be parsed and has been renamed to /config/.storage/core.config_entries.corrupt.2025-01-24T14:30:19.701303+00:00 to allow Home Assistant to continue.

A default core.config_entries may have been created automatically.

If you made manual edits to the storage file, fix any syntax errors in /config/.storage/core.config_entries.corrupt.2025-01-24T14:30:19.701303+00:00, restore the file to the original path /config/.storage/core.config_entries, and restart Home Assistant. Otherwise, restore the system from a backup.

Select Submit below to confirm you have repaired the file or restored from a backup.

The exact error was: Error while loading /config/.storage/core.config_entries: trailing comma is not allowed: line 102 column 664 (char 55571)

there is also lots of HACS entries in the /homeassistant/.storage/core.entity_registry

Time to restore from the backup I told you to make.

on my 4 th back up of the day and back to square 1. do you think if i go back to a much older backup from a couple of weeks ago would it go back before the corruption or is hacs just mow corrupted with any of my back ups

HACS is not corrupted. What is corrupted is your config entry database.

I can’t explain via text how to get out of that predicament. It’s too complex.

i fixed it more by luck than skill, thanks for trying

Good you got it solved!

By sharing how you did it and marking the solution this topic could help someone else too.

As mention more luck than skill so i cannot guarantee this was the issue but it was possibly a music assistant reference even though i didn’t have music assistant i think there was a reference in the file editor /homeassistant/.storage
folder.
