I hate Z-Wave. Please help

I am having trouble setting up ANYTHING Z-Wave.

Here’s the situation -

Years ago I setup a Trane TCONT624 Thermostat and a KwikSet 914 SmartLock using an Aeotec 700 series Z-Wave adapter and Indigo Automation Software on Mac.

Since then the adapter has broken and I’m no longer using Insteon as I am trying to migrate everything to Home Assistant.

I bought a brand new Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Stick, which Home Assistant sees just fine. The problem is I cannot connect the thermostat, a Zooz ZEN71 On/Off switch, or the Deadbolt lock to Z-wave.

I’ve tried adding by following the inclusion directions, I’ve tried via web browser, via the home assistant app on my phone, with and without the QR code (for the switch at least) and no matter what I do NOTHING works.

VERY Frustrated at this point and cant figure out what else to do or try. I was trying to go with Z-Wave so my Wi-Fi doesnt get loaded down with tons of devices.

I would first focus on the zooz zen71 to pair, but bring it very close to the controller to pair. The other 2 are pretty old and might also require being very close to the controller for pairing.
If these are your only zwave devices on the network, you might run into stability issues too

Are you able to add anything successfully to your zwave integration so far?

And you have the z-wave js app installed?

If so, when you go there does it show it’s running?

Can you paste a copy of the logs here?

Thanks

So apparently I didnt realize that it can take up to 10 min to add to the network. After excluding and then including everything’s working fine now.

It should not take 10 minutes, it takes 1-2 seconds, but if you post logs than people here can help more. Up to you obviously

That sounds like you’re using the smart inclusion (scanning the QR code). I’ve seen that happen with some of my devices but I stopped including them that way as I didn’t need any of the S2 features it sets by default.
