I have moved data disk to an SSD - how can I now boot from it?

Hi - my NUC install only had a 30Gb sata drive which was running out. I plugged in a 240Gb SSD via a usb adapter and moved the data disk.
Is there a way to make the SSD bootable now so I can swap it for the sata or should I start again?

Nope. Create an unencrypted full backup, download it somewhere off your nuc, start again & restore the backup during onboarding.

the ‘move data’ function in HA only moves the data/config, it does not move the boot/system.

this should free up the space on the sata, which continues to hold the os/boot.

if you wanted to remove the sata, unfortunately as indicated above, you will need to do a backup then, wipe/remove the sata, and restore. If you do this, be sure you have the encryption key/emergency kit (from the backup settings), so you can restore successfully.

you don’t ‘need’ to remove the sata though, ha will continue to work with separate os/boot + data disks.
