So my three eve energy plugs arrived the other day and I decided to put two of them to use today.
Everything went smoothly and they were added as nodes 5 and 6. Then I got the firmware update notice from 3.2.1 to 3.5.0 so I updated both but ended up with 4 extra entities (there’s a whole separate topic about that - happens to everyone, some ppl end up with 2 extras, I ended up with 4).
I’ll also mention that my first eve energy I got last month came shipped with 3.5.0 (one of the factory seals was cut open, the other one looked intact, but in hindsight I’m 99% sure it was also missing the plastic foil cover the plugs I got two days ago have). Fishy in any case, but what’s done is done.
After reading into that thread some more, I also noticed my original eve energy plug had the “Intentify (1)” instead of just “Identify” (like say, my nanoleafs). But it had just 8 entities (as I believe it should) instead of 12 (with 4 doubled and unavailable). My eve weather, after finally updating it to 3.5.0 has (had) “Identify (1)” and “Identify (2)” so I assumed that was normal until I came across that thread (not sure if it had the 1 and 2 on 3.3.0 since the first thing I wanted to do was upgrade).
Anyway back to topic. I wanted to get rid of the extra entities so I deleted all my eve devices and factory reset my original plug in order to re-add it to HA. To my surprise it added it as an entirely new node - node 7, but it recognized it was “Livingroom Growlights”. So I had nodes 2,3,4,7. My ocd kicked in so hard I immediately I did a restore from this morning hoping that would fix things. At first my overview got all messy with random entities such as button and firmware… So I readded the node as node 5 (with the same serial number as node 1… come on… isn’t that what a serial number is supposed to be used for?
I’ll also have to readd my eve weather so that would leave me with offline nodes 1 (1st smart plug) and node 4 (eve energy). The two new plugs I can just add normally, but the doubled (or empty if I delete them) nodes are killing me.
Can anything be done? Nodes renamed/reordered or something along those lines? Or will I end up with nodes just 2,3,5,6,7,8?
About to upgrade to a Pi5 first thing tomorrow morning so I may just start fresh if this can’t be fixed.
Any help would be much appreciated though.
