I2C BMP280 sensor stopped working after upgrade

I’ve upgrade HassIO (RPi4) to the latest version [Home Assistant OS 6.2 / core-2021.8.6 / supervisor-2021.06.8], and it seems that for some reason, access to the I2C BMP280 sensor is no longer available.

Using a local add-on, I’ve installed i2c-tools. /dev/i2c-1 is visible, but it cannot be reached:

> id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel),11(floppy),20(dialout),26(tape),27(video)

> ls -ld /dev/i2c*
crw-------    1 root     root       89,   1 Aug 15 12:59 /dev/i2c-1

> i2c-detect -y 1
Error: Could not open file `/dev/i2c-1': Operation not permitted

Any help on how to troubleshoot this issue would be really nice… Thanks.

Maybe you are inside a container that is not --privileged and does not have access to the device (even though you are root inside the container).
Rather than making the container --privileged, I suggest that you try to use --device first (although I’m not sure that it will work).
