Identify Auto discovered Xiaomi BLE Plant sensors "Flower care"

Well now that BlueTooth has been improved so much my Xiaomi plant sensors all showed up but they all loo exactly the same! how do I Match the Home assistant devices to the physical sensor?

You could take each sensor one by one and put them shortly in a glass of water or just hold the sensor between your fingers and check in home assistant which sensor shows a sudden change in moisture, temperature, etc… Once you know that you name the sensor as you want in home assistant and you’re good.

It’s still quite a bit of work when you have 20 of these devices…
Also, they are all named just “Flower Care” in the list in the Integrations card, even if you rename them, so any configuration is pretty annoying, since you need to try each one and count from the top to find the one you want to change the config for.

What I ended up doing was I wrapped each one with a paper towel at the end b y the contacts and placed the paper towel in a glass. I then poured a little hot water on the towel and watched the temp reading on the sensor change. This method worked pretty well.

Hi, I just went through this setup too, and have a couple of tips:

  1. You will need to identify the sensors one by one - unfortunately there is no ‘flash the LED’ option for identification. I just held the sensor so it warmed up, or covered the light sensor, and identified which sensor changed in HA.

  2. There are two places to rename the sensor:
    i. At the Xiaomi BLE card level. This does NOT rename the entities.
ii. Within the sensor card itself (at the top of the card, the ‘pen’ icon top right. When you rename here it prompts you whether you want to rename the entities too.

Hope this helps - sorry if I have any terminology wrong but I’m new to HA.
