Ikea BILRESA scroll-wheel unreliable / janky

Hello everyone, first post here, so please be kind!

I got 2 ikea BILRESA scroll-wheels because I found the concept of having multiple devices connected to it, and a rotating wheel super cool.
When I was trying it out in ikea, I could spam the bottom of it to cycle between the 3 "channels" and it would switch right away smoothly, and when I rotated the wheen it dimmed the light really nicelly.

I tried to replicate it in HA using a few of the bluprints online: (stone13/ikea_bilresa_atomic_v1.yaml) (
Skaronator/ikea-bilresa-dual-button.yaml) while having a home assistant green, connected to a ZBT-2 acting as a thread antenna, and i have matter.js as the server in the ha green box.

When I do the same at home with that setup, if I click it too fast more than 3 - 4 times, it "freezes" and doesnt react to the channel switch button anymore until I stop touching it for like 5 seconds... The scroll behaviour is also not very nice, with it kind of freezing / jumping between increasing / decreasing the bulb...

Are the two units bad? should I try diffrent batteries? do I need the ikea hub?

I tried looking at the events that come in, to try and see if the automations are bad, but it seems that the events match what im seeing, sometimes they stop coming in, and I need to be very slow on the wheel to actually see the states toggle correctly between the 1 and 0 on each switch

I am really happy with all if the other products I have from Ikea, but this one is giving me a bit of a headache...
