IKEA Bilresa Scrollwheel Firmware

Hey there,

I wonder if there is a firmwareupdate of the Bilresa Scrollwheel just as the Bilresa Dualbutton got it.
My Bilresa Scrollwheel only reacts sporadically and not really consistent, that's why I try to update them

CSA states that firmware 1.9.15 is certified, so either my homeassistant doesn't see it yet, or it´s not released yet.

My Bilresa dualbutton just got the update and installed it just fine.

That's Ikea, right?
I don't think firmware updates for those are enabled by default using ZHA, or at least they didn't used to be. Ikea firmware updates using ZHA
(Something to check)
In the end it relies on the mfgr sharing the updates to HA though.

Yeah right, it's the Ikea Bilresa Scrollwheel and it's communicating using Matter over Thread.

As I said, my Bilresa Dualbutton found firmware and updated just fine.

Thanks a lot, unfortunately no mentions of firmware version for Bilresa there...

Latest seen Firmware seems to be 1.9.11 according to matter survey:

… let‘s see.

updated 4 devices to 1.9.15... still working

I've been trying to update it from 1.8.7 to 1.9.15 but it looks to never end and eventually it gets back to zero like nothing happened, with a prompt to update again.

It's connected with Matter/Thread via a Aqara M200 hub, no hub from Ikea whatsoever

Absolutely the same...my dual button updated fine. The scroll wheel is stuck and keeps restarting.

Also the scroll wheel doesn't work either with ZHA or Matter. And it didn't come with the sticky plate.

I think I need to talk to IKEA support. I think I bought a lemon or a return!

My Bilresa scroll wheel updated firmware fine just now, from 1.8.7 -> 1.9.15

It stopped and restarted 3 or 4 times, but I just let it do its thing, and finally on the last iteration it ran all the way thru. I'd say total time was roughly 5-10 minutes. I did make sure to click the button a couple times before starting the firmware update, to make sure the device was awake.

My TBR is an SMLight SMHUB NANO. It's been working great so far with all my Thread devices.

Hi Everyone,

Does this firmware has native matter binding?

My Bilresa Scroll eventually did it - doing the 'press the button every 5-10s' thing after many hours.

But something odd happened after I updated - Alexa then 'lost' it and I had to readd it in Alexa and then Home Assistant Matter sharing with the code. Will this happen every time the FW updates? I was going from 1.8.7 upto latest. I hope not.

The update didn't fix the scroll issue - scroll does not work at all. Buttons work fine.

The strange thing is also initially it wasn't working at all after re-adding it to HA, the activity showed the actions, but it renamed itself in Matter after the OTHER button that I had removed (!) but the blueprint didn't do the actions til I removed, re-added it and saved it again within the blueprint! A major faff.

Also weirdly Matter just 'lost' the Bilresa dual remote as well (hence removing it), which was working fine after update but it then just stopped working? Entirely...so I switched it back to ZHA. Not had it drop off since.

Since then, it's used FAR less battery. Matter seemed to be draining it quite quickly but that could have been the FW updates, but then again the dual button updated within 20 minutes unlike the scroll version? I'm talking 100% > 76% on Lithium Rechargeable AA's 1300mAh in a day. Seems excessive.

As someone used to Zigbee, and used to their quirks (literally) but it being mostly reliable it really feels like Matter/Thread isn't really stable yet, at least the IKEA version.
