I have several IKEA E1743 switches and currently the second with this behavior:
The battery in the switch was empty, so I replaced the battery, but the switch seems to be dead. When I press the paring button next to the battery, the LED does not flash and no pairing log is seen in zigbee2mqqt.
As there are now two switches with the same behavior, I wonder if this is a common problem and if there is any trick to revive the switch.
I have a couple of the E1810 controllers and I’ve noticed that they lose the Zigbee configuration when the battery is changed. It’s a right pain: even though the zigbee2mqtt UI can automatically rename devices in HA.
I haven’t had a problem of not being able to reset them though.
I managed to get it working again using a different battery. The switch seems to be very particular about batteries. I tried several before…
I had a lot of trouble getting it to connect back to zigbee2mqtt, but after a few tries it worked.
Does that mean you remove them from z2m before pairing them again? In my experience, pairing them again without removing will reuse the existing device.
