Ikea RODRET switch - automations or binds?

Hi

What’s the right process for using an IKEA RODRET switch with a non ikea LED Strip.

I have both the switch and light paired via Z2M and have setup 4 automations

  1. press on - runs an automation to turn on
  2. hold on - runs an automation to increase brightness
  3. press off - runs automation to turn off
  4. hold off - runs automation to decrease brightness

Is this the right method or is it possible to create an association between the switch and a device/entity and all the controls possible are native without setting up separate automations for each action? Noticed there seems to be binds in the Z2M device info but not sure what this does or how this work

Edit: just been playing on the bind tab in the Z2M device options and found selecting the destination end point of the switch as the light and the clicking bind has bound the switch to the light and now on / off works without automation scripts. However holding on and off doesn’t appear to change the dimness. Is there further settings I need to change to achieve this with the binds or does the brightness need an automation?
