I suspect my ESPHome integration may be on an old version - but cannot find which version its at.
In Integrations, ESPHome shows as installed, but no Version info is displayed (not helpful).
Eight months back I accidentally (and briefly) had the Add-on “ESPHome Device Builder” installed, but was n’t using it and it conflicted with my “Everything Presence One” build, so I removed the ESPHome Device Builder add-on.
I have a “Home Assistant Voice” ESPHome device too.
How do I check what my ESPHome integration version is?
How check what the lastest stable ESPHome integration version is? (Do n’t see this listed on the HA ESPHome web page.
How do I update the Integration, if it needs it?
I used to see ESPHome in the left HA panel and get Updates for my ESPHome devices, but no longer do. I suspect (not sure) that removing the ESPHome Builder add-on splatted those? Should I remove my ESPHome devices and the Integration, then re-add in the hope it sets ESPHome up afresh?
I’m on HAOS Core 2025.7.1, Supervisor 2025.06.2, OS 15.2, Frontend 20250702.1.
As I said, I have the ESH Home HA Integration but not the ESPHome Device Builder Add-on installed.
So I’m confused!!!
To use and update ESP Home devices (like EP1 and “Home Assistant Voice PE”) do I need the ESP Home Integration or the “ESPHome Device Builder” Add-on or both installed?
At ESPHome - Home Assistant it says " The ESPHome integration allows ESPHome devices to connect directly to Home Assistant with the native ESPHome API.", inferring the add-on is not needed.
The EP1 setup guide only refers to Adding the EP1 via the HA Integrations page - not to needing the Add-on installed.
Likewise, I don’t think the HA “Home Assistant Voice” device needs the add-on either.
Thus my impression was that I needed the integration only… but you both seem to be refering me to the add-on documentation/install.
Please will you clarify?
Yes you need to be able to edit your device for esphome to upgrade there is extra steps but you need the esphome builder addon to upgrade devices
Esphome is already integrated to homeassistant is not that you install a integration you just discover your esphome devices
Esphome devices are a complete device they work internally, if you want the device to stay with the same code always you can do it as they will never need to upgrade
But if you have a vpe i recomend upgrade it you can doit in two ways with browser installer on esphome or with the addon
Well theres more ways to update any esphome device so many ways that will be dificult to explain all of them
