Incorporating Sensors on a WLED flashed board?

So I decided to try flashing one of my Wemos D1 Minis with WLED and to my satisfaction, it worked flawlessly and showed up in HA without fail…however…

I was wondering how I could use more of the pins on the D1 Mini for sensors. Ultimately, I want to add a light sensor or trigger switch on the board and attach it to the doors of a cabinet so I can use that as a trigger to fire the lights.

Can that be done without having another board with a motion, light, or other sensor on it?

That is a question for the WLED forum, but I believe the answer is NO.

There are usermods available for WLED, Here: https://github.com/Aircoookie/WLED/tree/master/usermods

Either the PIR_sensor_switch Or the photoresistor_sensor_mqtt_v1 could work for your needs. I’ve not used them myself. However they must work, since a user posted them.
