Incorrect "Login attempt failed" message

I've recently started getting these notifications:

Login attempt failed

Login attempt or request with invalid authentication from 192.168.1.31 (192.168.1.31). See the log for details.

The IP address is always from the machine I am on - in this case my laptop - but if I am using the companion app on my iPad, I will get the same message, with its local IP address. It is also not only when I first open the page or the app. If I look at another unrelated tab in Chrome for 10 minutes and come back, HA will give the same notification.

I can't find any reference to this in the logs, despite what the notification says (unless I am looking at the wrong logs). Obviously the attempt did not fail, because I am looking at HA from that IP address.

I can see other similar complaints but no resolution. Thoughts?

There are a few reports of this as per this Thread - 2026.6.1 Login Failures

Not aware of a solution as yet.

Yes - I've done a lot of searching but no solution.

Edit - Spoke to Soon :frowning: error just popped up again

I just posted to the Thread mentioned - I narrowed my down to Picture at a Glance card.
That was based on full error message in the logs, I recreated the the Picture cards and seems to solved the issue for me at least.

Spotted a link to this issue in the release thread. Do you have a camera in your dashboard? Regression in 2026.6.1: false "invalid authentication" errors from camera_proxy causing IP bans behind reverse proxy · Issue #173295 · home-assistant/core · GitHub

This my be related to:

As well.

Yes I do have Dahua and Hilook cameras feeding into the dashboard. Based on the GitHub discussions this is on the suspect list.

I'll delete all those cards and see what happens. However, I use one of the Dahua cameras as part of an automation to warn me someone is coming to the door, so the cameras are still in the system... but maybe it is the card that is the issue.

I deleted the HACS "Advanced Camera Card" off my dashboard. It had been showing a Hilook camera which is an additional camera thrown into a Dahua system.

The logon notification has stopped.

I have no idea if there is a more-than-coincidence link between these events. I did just update Frenck's Advanced SSH app, but there was no login notice before that, so I don't think that is related.

I guess all I can do is restore the Advanced Camera Card and test.

UPDATE: Restored it - the notification came back. Deleted it again.... still got the login notification. Not sure where to go now.

I don't have the Advanced Camera Card and getting the logging, must be something a bit deeper within the camera stream and internal API call to show the stream

Yes - I don't think that card is a culprit. It's deleted and I still get the message.
