InfluDB to be Removed?

Hi,

I installed InfluxDB a long time ago an use it together with Grafana. Working fine so far, Updates went smooth I had no issues.

But now I am getting a message to uninstall InfluxDB:

The InfluxDB app has been removed from the repository from which it was installed. This means that it will not receive updates and backups may not be restored correctly as the Home Assistant Supervisor may not be able to create/download the necessary resources. Selecting OK will uninstall the app and permanently delete all the contents of its private data folder, including all databases, login credentials, and other internal states stored there. Make a backup first in case you still need this data later. Alternatively, you can check the Home Assistant Help Center and the Community Forum for alternatives to switch to.

Anyone having an idea what to do? I do not want to remove InfluxDB because I use it. Is there no successor?

Today, my HA installation showed message about update for InfluxDB, from version 5.2 to 6.0. I installed it and everything seems to be working. Version 6.0 seems to have couple updates that make it much more resilient, beginning from the database directory location. Thanks for @frenck and friends for update!

However, I still have that original warning message about removal. Since I have now updated Influx to version 6.0, and I want to keep old data, should I

  1. submit changes, what will really happen now?
  2. just ignore it, and close from x. How I get rid of this message?
  3. do something else to get rid of removal message?

And after update and reboot or two, notification of InfluxDB removal is gone! So, just install version 6.0.

That helped me, too.

Just saw the update (for Grafana as well), installed them, rebooted.

The message was still there with lesser text but I could click on “Ignore” and everything looks to be fine now.

Thanks!

Influx DB is no longer open source with V3 and their free tier only allows queries less than 72 hours. The app/addon in HA uses V1 and will likely never update to V3 because of this reason. There is no official word from the Influx team that they will continue to support V1.

Victoria Metrics which offers the same services does not have this restriction. Because you are just starting out, I recommend transitioning to that app/addon.

Is Victoria Metrics an official add-on? Does ist backup properly?

It’s a community app. Yes

Ok- I saw a migration guide in the above linked thread. I might give it a try then.
