Hi, I just bought this device.
It has been discover immediately by HA and I added it to my wifi and add the ESPHOME addon too.
I nee to know if I nee to upgrade the firmware cause is on 1.0 and there slightly error, like {index} as you can see on the picture.
If so, I do I upgrade it? ota form HA or do I need to flash from PC?

I managed to get it upgrade going to esphome.io and upgrade directly from the browser . No I’ve got more options and Firmware: 25.6.1 (ESPHome 2025.6.1)
BUUUUUUUUT there is no way I can get the wake word working, maybe is the mic broken or maybe a bug, I found some problems on other forums but not HA related
Multiple wake words were introduced this 2025.10 release in HA. I think that is wht the index is for. So my guess is your ESPHome needs to be 2025.10.0 too. Yours is 4 months older.
the M5 echo and the software for it are a pain… each and every update causes various inconsistencies or functionality problems.
your best bet will probably be to join their discord server, and post your challenge. they’ll get it sorted no matter the update method you use, either in the Esphome dashboard, using custom firmware, or the Projects ready made firmware at Ready-Made Projects - ESPHome - Smart Home Made Simple and a google browser.
