Initial Unifi Setup With Addon?

If I am running HA on my Rpi4 , will I be able to complete a Unifi setup using the Unifi addon, rather than a device for running the controller like a second Rpi4 or the cloud key?

If I need to buy more hadrware, and that’s better for the long, I will do that

hi! Yes. I am running the controller software on my RPI3 which runs my Hassio too without any issues, so no need for separate hardware.

Thanks! I always get worried about stuff that usually works itself when I get my hands dirty. The one thing that was tripping me up was the bit about SSL. It looks like you set it to false in the addon, and am wondering if that will make a fuss during the initial setup. Did you already have your Unifi setup before you ran the addon? Also the docs recommend running the controller in a virtual machine, but I havent even looked into that yet.

I only had an AP without controller and instead of purchasing a cloudkey, I decided to use the controller Add-on.

not sure what you mean with SSL off… i have it on. These are my addon settings:

ssl: true
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem

If i set ssl:true it does not work, so I do false. other posts say ssl:true is for smart people. Since I’m quarantined I could learn, but i don’t know where to start.

Im not considering myself very smart… at least not in the development space. I followed first instructions around duckDNS and Letsencrypt. That allows secured access and an SSL connection. Post that I had the addon for UniFi.
