Install ZWA-2 on HAOS in VM

I have HA OS installed in a VM on TrueNAS Scale (24.10) and am trying to install my shiny new ZWA-2, without success.

In the VM settings, USB passthrough has been enabled, and there are eight different controllers listed. I have tried all of them, unsuccessfully. In the Z-Wave integration, there are four tty options and, again, all failed to load the integration.

Has anyone successfully installed the ZWA-2 in such an environment. If not, how do I identify the correct USB passthrough and tty port?

Hi @Tromperie - Sorry for the long delay.

I’ve had some time to test the ZWA-2 in my HAOS VM, and it appears to work as expected.

Here’s the setting I used when adding it to the VM

You can confirm it shows up in Home Assistant by going to Settings > System > Hardware and clicking on All hardware

On my system, it appears as ttyACM0. However, in the Z-Wave JS UI add-on, it is listed under /dev/serial/by-id/..., which is the preferred method for connecting to it.

Are you trying to use Z-Wave JS or Z-Wave JS UI? What error are you seeing with the integration?

I am having the same issue. I can see the ZWA-2 in the hardware list, but it not showing in “Discovered”

The light is also blinking and not solid.

I don’t remember mine showing up as “discovered” either. I went to integrations and added the Z-Wave integration from there.

I found my issue. I have been using Z-Wave JS UI, which I completely forgot I was using :man_facepalming:. I followed the migrations instructions for Z-Wave JS UI and it works perfectly now.
