Installation of Z-Wave JS UI Appears to be "broken"?

I cannot get the Z-wave JS UI addon properly implemented … following these instructions … http://homeassistant.local:8123/hassio/addon/a0d7b954_zwavejs2mqtt/documentation

I have the current HAOS installed on a mini Intel N150 PC with the Connect ZWA-2 z-wave device attached to the USB port. I am brand new to HA (converting from Hubitat). I did set up the Z-wave using the normal Z-wave JS and everything worked fine (I added two z-wave devices to check the functionality). I then uninstalled the add-on, deleted the z-wave integration, rebooted the system and then followed the above instructions and everything seems to be working okay until I get to the integration step. Here are the instructions …

Now it is time to set up Home Assistant:

  1. Go to the Settings panel and click “Devices & Services”.
  2. In the bottom right, click “+ Add Integration”.
  3. Select the “Z-Wave” integration from the list.
  4. A dialog box will show, asking to use the add-on:
  • UNCHECK that box, it will install the official add-on.
  • Again, the official add-on is recommended, so…
  1. In the next dialog it will ask for the server. Enter: ws://a0d7b954-zwavejs2mqtt:3000
  2. Confirm and done!

But step 4 cannot be performed because I do not get a dialog box with the option to not install the add-on. No matter what I try, the integration proceeds with installing the Z-wave JS add-on which of course conflicts with the Z-wave JS UI set up. Simply removing the Z-wave JS add-on after the fact does not fix it either.

Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

Well you have to uncheck that box…

If you delete the zwavejs add-on and restart, assuming you have the zwavejsui one loaded like that, it should work. Unchecking the box stops confusion and problems going forward if you want to use zwavejsui.

I would love to check a box, but their is no box. I start here …

After selecting the ZWA-2 I get this …

It does not matter which I select, I then end up with the following

And after a few minutes I get …

The ZWA-2 device is not added, but the zwave JS addon is installed when I check the add-ons…

Stop choosing the discovered adapter, instead choose “Set up another instance of Z-Wave”. Then pick the custom installation.

The discovered adapter selection will always install the core add-on, that’s its purpose. The custom installation section for that is pretty misleading as a result.

Thanks freshcoat. Selecting “set up another instance of Z-wave” was not an obvious choice to me. After selecting the custom installation I got the following prompt and I unchecked the box.

From their the instructions were accurate again. I would suggest that the instructions are “improved” to make this more clear. While I am a newbie to HA, I don’t think the instructions are clear enough to successfully navigate.
Thanks again for your help!!
