Well … I’ve decided to jump into HA and installed the program on an old laptop. Downloaded Ubuntu; installed the HA from a USB on the harddisk and it seems the server is doing something. However, when I try to log into the UI, nothing seems to be working. My server is showing the ha> screen and I have been trying to find the IP address that was attributed to the machine … no joy.
When running the application FING on the phone, I cannot see anything that is labeled Home Assistant so I’m sensing something did not go well.
Any guidance ?

You did plug it into the LAN?
Yes I did … cable is connected to the switch and the lights are showing.
Can you look on your router for ip address?
Have done that and was unable to find it. Restarted the pc and all of a sudden, the connection worked. Might have been a faulty ethernet connection or something.
