Installing Home Assistant OS using Proxmox 8

Seems you are trying to PXE boot which is failing. You might need to modify the boot order.

Ahhh, that would be it.

It nearly works with Version 9 - The Proxmox bit gets repository’s wrong, but its no Biggy to fix

Guys, the Proxmox helper scripts make it really easy and do work:

Does anyone know where I can find a good tutorial on upgrading Proxmox 8 to Proxmox 9? Apparantly support for 8 will end soon.

I just clicked the update in the PVE section proxmox? I didn't even think about it? Started on v7.0 now on v 9.2.3 and have only ever clicked the update section to do the updates. Never needed a guide.

Do you have subscription by any chance? I also couldn't find how to upgrade from UI. Then i found a guide somewhere (can't say where anymore) to upgrade from ssh and all went well, proxmox ran on V9. Until i rebooted... then proxmox didn't start anymore. So i have to do a fresh new v9 install. Ok, i admit, i guess i missed a step somewhere in the middle...but still, this should be way easier than typing a thousand of linux lines in shell one by one manually (like it's written on above guide).

I have used pveXtoX, as instructed in Continuously use the pve8to9 checklist script multiple times with success (started with Proxmox v5.x).
Now I'm still on v8.4.19 but since I want to replace disks, I will start from scratch.

I'm doing some tests to see how it goes to move my virtual machines temporarily to another system so downtime is minimal.

I just googled the question and it told me this which saved me writing it

Option 1: Via the Web GUI (Recommended for minor updates)

  1. Log in to your Proxmox Web Interface.
  2. In the left-hand menu, expand your Datacenter and select your specific Node.
  3. Click on the Updates tab.
  4. Click Refresh to fetch the latest package lists from the repositories.
  5. Once the task finishes, click Upgrade. A shell window will open to complete the process. When prompted, confirm by typing Y and pressing Enter.
  6. Reboot your server if a new kernel was installed

Until I read this earlier I had no idea I had updated to v9, didn't even know it existed. I don't have any subscription, I just update it every month or so.

Hm... that's interesting.. Updates - that i do regularly, too (i have a reminder in HA for that) and i didn't receive any V8 -->V9 update back then.
I guess let's wait and see what will happen when (if) V10 comes out)...

I guess you get the major upgrades if you modified the sources.

Also, running that pveXtoX script (with --full switch) does a check and shows potential issues before upgrading.
