OK - here goes. My main installation is on a Pi 5 and I’ve blogged about the various bits that I’ve done. However, blogs aren’t the best and I’m writing a web site with my installation experience for others to follow. To that end I’m trying to do another install on hardware that I’ve got, because another Pi 5 is going to cost… and the other day I hit a deer with my car, so I don’t have cash to spare right now. (repairing the car will be cheaper than taking the hit to my insurance if I made a claim)
I have a Pi Zero 2 w and a Pi 3A. I’ve been trying to get HA on them. For both of them, using 14.x, 13.x and 12.x they both fail during the onboarding process at the point of reaching the data sharing permissions. Using three browsers (one of them Firefox, after reading about time issues) give, “failed to save: undefined” and I can’t get past that.
I used a VM to create a fresh installation and then made a backup, to then import into a new installation and do it that way… sometimes after selecting the backup file, it just endlessly hangs with the progress bar. On one occasion I got to the point of giving it the key and then I got “BackupManager.do_restore_partial” blocked from execusion, system is not running - startup"
I can’t use my one Pi 5 to make a new image as it’s 64 bit and also I’d have to take my home down to do it.
Am I on a hiding to nothing here, or is there a way of doing this?
