Insteon - Bypass the Insteon HUB

Hi everyone,
I’m new to Home Assistsnt but I have managed to install HA on a Raspberry Pi 3 and got it working to control installed Insteon and X10 devices.
I have one interrogation I would like to be clarified. It looks to me that HA talks to my Insteon HUB (Model 2242-222) to operate the devices; HA does not seem to send commands directly to devices, If this is the case, I can’t remove and discard the Insteon HUB.
This has the effect that previous schedules stored on my Insteon HUB are still in effect. For example, I had an Insteon schedule turning outside lights ON at Sunset and OFF at a fix time of 10:30 PM. I have configured my automation in HA to turn those lights ON at 30 min before sunset and it works great (this automation works before the Insteon schedule - at sunset) but if I want to turn those lights OFF at, let’s say 11:00 PM, the lights are still turned OFF at 10:30 PM (making me believe the old Insteon schedule to turn OFF these lights at 10:30 PM is still in effect).
Is there a way to get HA to send commands directly to Insteon abd X10 devices ?

Hello fellow Quebecer.
you are correct. you still need to use the hub and current schedules will continue to run. search the forum and also insteon reddit on how to safely reset the hub. I believe there is a way to factory reset the hub, but best to find the proper instructions since the hub could be rendered unusable with a factory reset.

the only way to get rid of the hub is to use a serial or usb plm 2413 for example. But these are rather expensive to find at the moment. If you have electronics background, it is in fact possible to use a 2242 or 2243 hub as a modem by modifying it. In fact I have built my own hub based on the 2242 design.

Wystewart,
Thanks for the reply, you confirm my understanding of the control of Insteon by HA.

Regards.
