Disable 802.3az EEE

Thats a catch! But as you, i found only some rumours or tips to rumours to get rid of the EEE setting.
I’m at work now, but will fiddle with the switch as i get home.
Best tip i gathered:

  1. https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/1kqzsnj/disable_eee_on_ubiquiti_lite16poe_switch/

Disable EE by setting the port as an Pro AV port

i will try to SSH into the switch and disable the EEE per port.

So i will be back in the evening and report. I have to edit this post…

I wish you also a good start to the week.

PS: I cant comment here more than three times because of “new User”…

please consider for our discussion:

EDIT:

I’ve enabled ProAV Mode for the port, but its flapping the second i plug the connector in. So no solution here.

Hello @Einhard ,

thanks for your information. I have enabled the 802.3az EEE option on the Zyxel. This way, I/we can rule out that this is causing the problem with Solakon.

P.S. I also enabled Flow Control. So can I test it, if Solakon has really a problem with these options.

I SSH’ed in the switch pro but and tried to switch EEE off, but nothing has changed in the behaviour of the solakon one. So this is not the solution. I honestly dont think the problem is the switch or ubiquiti.

Grüße

Einhard

Thanks for your feedback. That was Solakon’s recommendation:

  • Disable flow control (already disabled on my end)
  • Set to 100 Mbps full-duplex (already set on my end)
  • Disable 802.3az EEE → and here’s where I have a problem:

Yesterday, I changed the setup in my Zyxel to:

  • Flow Control ON
  • ENABLE 802.3az EEE
  • Speed to AUTO

and… it works the hole night and day still yet. In my opinion, it comes down to how Unifi and Solakon work together. Zyxel works, and D-Link does too (see here) – but Unifi doesn’t. Maybe the Unifi switch or the environment is too sensitive.

That stupid D-Link between the storage device and the Unifi—everything is working, and the Wi-Fi icon is lit up steadily. I unplug the Ethernet cable from the D-Link (the Wi-Fi light goes out) and plug it into the Unifi, in the same port where the stupid D-Link was plugged in, and the network connection fails or won’t establish.

But whats the thing with your unifi switch flex mini not functioning and mine is. It can not be random… A riddle to solve.

Greetings

:joy: In one of your screenshots, I have seen, that you have Flow control enabled. I have it disabled global. I will test it again, with enabled option.

@Einhard2 So far – with the Zyxel – everything’s been running smoothly. No disconnections at all. Solakon says they’ll be in touch again by the end of next week. Over the weekend, I’ll give Unifi another go, but with the flow control option enabled.

I’m very curious to see what comes of this. There’s someone else in the photovoltaik.com forum who’s also experiencing connection drops to a Fritzbox (disabling the EEE port didn’t help in his case). So it seems to be a more widespread problem.

Have a nice weekend…

It doesn’t works. The same connection drops. Zyxel is working now again and all is good. I’ll be waiting of feedback from Solakon.

The same to you. :raising_hand_man:

It’s so sad that the network implementation of the Solakon One jucks big time. Even with a Wi-Fi mesh repeater in the same space just a couple of meters away and an improved antenna it’s totally unreliable while the EV Charger in a concrete box some meters further away works fine without the repeater. I had to add in a Wi-Fi to Ethernet bridge to get it running more reliably but even now it’s droppping the connection here and there…

That’s right. I have the Solakon connected to my Zyxel Switch and the Zyxel with my Unifi Network. What Router or Network Equipment do you have?

A Repeater with a separat LAN NIC or a Powerline Adapter with a LAN NIC could be a solutation, isn’t it? Solakon → LAN → Repeater/Powerline.

It would be worth a try.
