Integrating Nest Protect smoke alarms

I ended up in a similar loop yesterday. Allowing chrome third-party cookies in Chrome solved it for me:

Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies > Allow third-party cookies

Turning it off again after getting the cookies might be a good idea.

This topic is of interest to me because I’ve got a few old wireless nest protects sitting in a box somewhere because I couldn’t get them to pair up on my network.

I’m wondering if HA will be able to help here? I’m not sure though because this solution seems to rely on all devices being successfully controlled by the nest saas.

Fundamentally on my home network I could never get the second nest protect to be detected. There’s a ‘network requirements’ section on the nest website however I think there are some hidden requirements that aren’t listed.

My home network is a single layer 2 domain with both ipv4 and ipv6 address space. These are public address ranges so no NAT involved. I have a feeling the issue was with ipv6 multicast discovery protocols but I’m not particularly familiar with them. I never did solve it hence why they’re still in a box. Nest support was useless.

Just wondering if there are any experts here that may be able to help?

Yes these are cloud devices, if the cloud doesnt work, HA wont either.

I would assume IPv6 isn’t being used tbh, thats a bridge to far for most IoT. Therefore IPv4 would be using NAT yeah?
