Integration for Danalock v3 Zigbee

Is anyone else here a ZHA user? Am I correct in understanding from the thread on the deConz community and the PR that @nilux kindly shared that a Bug report or Device support request would need to be added to zigpy/zha-device-handlers? Or are we basically waiting on Danalock to fix their firmware?
I’m happy to have a go at submitting a Bug report, but as this is a little above my experience level not completely clear what info I would need to include.

I’ve installed this new firmware on my Conbee II and for more than 36 hours the lock has remained connected and controllable by Deconz/Phoscon. My lock connects directly to the coordinator.

Are you using a Conbee II as your coordinator? If so, the firmware alone should help. I haven’t made any updates to Deconz/Phoscon, only the firmware of the Conbee II. The lock is still on firmware 0.20.0.

I use the Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 Dongle Plus as my coordinator with ZHA.

I see, I misunderstood that Phoscon/Deconz had been updated. Understand now that the firmware for ConBee II has been updated.

I’m not clear if I should be looking to ZHA devs for help with Danalock V3 or to Koenkk/Z-Stack-firmware for a similar firmware update for my Sonoff dongle?

I’d start off with the dongle Devs.

Have created an issue here in Koenkk/Z-Stack-firmware, hopefully they’re able to help otherwise will get in touch with ZHA devs.

So I decided to buy a coinbee II stick. DECONZ sees my lock, but how do I make it into an actual integration? Noob here, so please explain from the beginning.

From Phoscon, add it as a light.

Hello. I have a question to people, who use deconz/phoscon ba Danalock. Do you see battery persent on Phoscon?

No, I don’t

Did you try DDF mode? (Add DDF for Danalock V3 by manup · Pull Request #6057 · dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin · GitHub)

I’ve seen it but have been holding off since it’s still a beta

And what about life of battery? How often do you change it?

Changed batteries a few weeks ago, they had lasted more than a year.

Have created an issue here in zigpy/zha-device-handlers

Hello there,

I am facing the decision to buy a Zigbee or Z-Wave version of the Danalock v3 lock. I’m more interested in the Zigbee version, but as I read here, there are problems with it. Does it work for anyone at all? I have a zigbee network at home with 30 devices and the lock would be right next to the cooridnator.
I don’t have a zwave network at home, but I have a zwave coordinator and I would like to avoid making a new network because of one device (I use WiFi, Zigbee, IQRF, MySensors at home)

@shajek it works for me with no problems at all. Has worked for a long time without issues. As long as you use the correct zigbee coordinator software you won’t have an issue. I had no end of problems with ZHA and deconz which is why I switched zigbee2mqtt

As stated earlier, works flawlessly for me with deconz and has been stable for years.
Have a large number of devices, only wifi and zigbee though.

I use Z2M. So, I don’t have to worry? Because Zigbee is even more expensive than Zwave

@shajek i don’t think you have anything to worry about.
I have had a couple of times that Z2M went funny, and therefore the lock went funny, but that was after a back to back power cut - power went out for 2 hours, then came back for 3 minutes (just long enough for the VM and Proxmox to get back up and running) and then went out again. When it all came back, Z2M itself had an issue. But 10 minutes later, and a few stop of addons, and all was good - the lock had to be deleted and paired again but then I had a fair few devices that went that way. Paired with the same name as before and all automations/node red flows worked as normal.
I have also kept the lock firmware up to date and not had any issues after an upgrade with firmware, Danabridge or Dana pad firmwares to.

Also, if you are an Apple HomeKit home, you can send the lock to HomeKit as well just the same as the HomeKit only hardware - zigbee is definitely your friend.

And if you are already a zigbee home, your other powered repeats will enhance the mesh. If you went to zwave, would the distance reach from your main HA device to he lock?

For openness, the only thing I don’t like about Danalock, and this would probably be the same for other bluetooth enabled locks, is it can take a bit of time when your phone gets home for the Danalock software to unlock your door (10 seconds). I have over come this with Room-Assistant. As soon as any of my families devices get within distance of the house via BLE (approx 5 meters from the door), automations run and unlock the door. I also have some fairly comprehensive node red flows to lock/unlock the door for various scenarios (have a door sensor on the front door enables all of this) - happy to share if/when needed
