Integration to update scene.yaml with an action

Let me start by saying this was entirely vibe coded. I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to writing anything other than YAML inside of Home Assistant.

I’ve wanted to be able to simply press and hold on a scene button to update the scene for as long as I’ve been using Home Assistant. There are ongoing requests for exactly this feature, but nobody had built anything yet, to my knowledge.

So here it is. GitHub - itsLleaff/scene_updater: A custom integration for Home Assistant that allows you to dynamically overwrite your physical YAML scenes using a service call. · GitHub

I’ve barely tested it, but it is working for me. If anyone that actually knows what they’re doing could have a look and make or suggest improvements that would be fab.

I’m amazed this isn’t already part of Home Assistant… it’s a pretty core feature of every commercial automation system I’ve ever installed. It allows people to update their light scenes, or scenes containing other things, without ever needing to enter a settings page.

It is inspiring to see your absolute trust in the AI scene. Will it survive one of those regular HomeAssistant updates that seem to come along every week/month?
