My Homeassistant on a Intel NUC died during my vacation. The installed SSD can't be read any more.
Therefore I ordered a new SSD, installed Proxmox and than installed Homeassistant haos_OVA-18.0 on it.
My old Homeassist create a backup every night.
When I tried to restore the latest vaild backup file with the encryption key I've written down long time ago (a 12 character PW), I got the message, that the restore failed.
When I tried exactly the same, I'm getting now the message, that the encryption key should be wrong, but it is exactly the same I used during the 1st time when I get the message, that the restore failed.
I have ~100 actors in the system, and don't want to build up the complete system from scratch.
Any ideas? And how useful is a automatic backup system, if the backups are not accepted later on?
You have two archiving methods. One is free, but it has drawbacks: backup to a Google account. The other is “free” in quotes: buying a NAS, and then the backup is done locally.
Method three: an external USB 3.0 drive.
