Interface for dumb phones

I’ve got 3 kids living at home with me, the youngest is turning 14 and they had developed a bit of a smartphone addiction so we had to take away the Android and give them a dumbphone for basic communication.

I’ve been setting up automations to send notifications and reminders to family members, and was pondering how I could include the dumbphone for more interactive communication than just receiving text messages. Exactly what, I’m not sure yet. It occurred to me that there might be a a simplified dashboard that could be operated from the dumbphone’s built in web browser, something primarily text based?

I’ve only been using Home Assistant for about a week. I’ve been using LLM’s to help me customize and configure things pretty successfully. Lovelace is the name of the web interface HASS uses, right? To do what I’m describing, would a custom dashboard work? Or would there need to be a simplified alternative to Lovelace itself?

Thanks for your patience! LOL
