I’ve got home assistant wired up to use the same hostname both internally and externally. However, there are times, almost exclusively with iPhones, where the Home Assistant app just can’t find the site when coming in externally. Closing the app completely and opening it back up seems to resolve the issue.
It would seem like this is a DNS caching issue, but I wanted some feedback from others. Is this how you guys that self-host and poke external holes in set yours up? If I changed my internal hostname from ho-ass[.]contoso[.]com to ho-ass-in[.]contoso[.]com and left external as is, would that likely resolve my issue? Any chance it would yield improve device tracking on iphone as well? (different issue but iphone device tracker suuuuccckkksss)
