iOS app error: “Only automations in automations.yaml are editable.”

My iOS, Apple, no longer work. It only shows this error.

I have searched around and tried numerous things that I found online without any luck.

A couple days ago I was working on a few automations on my computer and change some names, added new ones, deleted a couple old ones. I did not use any script editors. Once I was finished, I saved all my work and everything works great.

Except now I notice the app doesn’t work? I am not a pro user, is there anyway to track what the issue down is to fix it?

Thank you!

Hello Spy228,

Only automations and scripts that are located inside one of the files automations.yaml or scripts.yaml are editable using the gui editors.

If you create them outside of the gui editor, they are always edited there unless you use the gui editor to pull them back in and remove the old ones.

Ok, I can’t open the ios app… Just opens and goes directly into that error screen?

By GUI editor, do you mean the webapp or ios app using the selectable options in the drop-down menus? If so, that’s the only way I do them. I haven’t written any code for any automations.

Is there a way to figure out which one is causing the problem?

when I go to [HA-IP]/config/automation/edit/1741365368192 I get the error on my computer as well, so maybe this link seems to cause the problem? But I don’t know what this number is in the url or how to clear it?

Did you try killing the app and then starting it?

Yes, I did. Restarted the phone as well. App opens directly to the error.

That’s really unfortunate. The only thing I can suggest is based on experience and not actual knowledge of how things work: kill the app and then let some time pass (a few hours, a day?). My observational wisdom is that the app seems to behave differently if it was recently opened–even if it was killed thereafter–versus if it wasn’t.

Hopefully others on the forum will have ideas for a more direct solution, though.

hello @Spy228 . did you manage to get rid of this error? it happened to me yesterday night. I killed the app and today morning is still there… this is annoying… just to know if I have to wait longer to have it fixed or maybe try something else…

In my case I don’t know how to find the automation ID I deleted. How did you do it? I don’t understand this route you mentioned: [HA-IP]/config/automation/edit/1741365368192

Thanks!

Hi! This happened to me today too!? Seams as it is getting more frequently, no?

Any ideas?

No idea why, but it looks like deleting the app and redownloading it solved the issue for me.

I could get rid of it by swiping the screen in from the left. I read it in another post and it worked… too silly but hard to figure it out by ourselves…
