Ios app not connecting on iPhone or iPad

Hi All,

New to HA and looking for some assistance.

I’ve had HA running on my Mac, iPhone, and iPad for the last 2 weeks with no problems.

However, I now cannot get my iPhone or iPad to connect to HA.

The only thing I can think of that has changed since I last used HA on those devices is that yesterday I had to turn my home router off. Since turning it back on, I don’t seem to be able to get HA connected on my iPhone or iPad via the App.

HA seems to be working fine on my Mac and I can connect my phone to HA by typing in the local address but the App refuses to work.

Trouble shooting so far includes:

  • Ensuring all software versions up to date.
  • Deleting and reloading the App.
  • Turning both devices off fully and re-starting.
  • Manually typing in the URL into the App instead of relying on the automatic connection (I did see another post on here indicating that others had found this solution worked but no joy for me).

Anything fundamental I might be missing here?

Thanks in advance.

I’m guessing your router allocated new IP addresses for the HomeAssistant server, based on the sequence the devices were turned back on, and inconsistent since the last time.
A reliable solution is to go into the router DHCP configuration area and set up Static IP Addresses, so each time the devices connect, they get the same IP address and the connection happens automagically without any searching.
Check your connection strings configured on your apple devices now have IP addresses in the url, and you should be right to go.
