iOS device stuck erroneously in “Home” Zone

iOS device always in “Home” zone.

New problem, not sure exactly when it started unfortunately. It’s been at least 2 weeks.

HA setup used to run automations very reliably based on iOS device leaving/entering home zone. It now thinks the device is “home” even though location is being properly reported.

I was away for several weeks, during which time the server and phone were both updated. So I’m afraid I can’t pinpoint which update broke the functionality.

I’m accessing the server remotely via Tailscale, and was doing so before when it was working correctly as well. No change at all in that setup (including no new devices/addresses/people/etc).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the companion app, and turned everything off and on again. I have tried running the automations based on person entity instead of device, and based on “geolocation” trigger and “state” triggers. When I check the state of the device tracker, it’s always “home” no matter whether that’s true or not, and the geolocation seems to be working correctly and updating normally periodically, on significant changes, and when manually triggered.

Now on iOS 18.3, HAOS 14.2, Core 2025.2.2.

Any insight would be appreciated! TIA.

Hi thanks for this.

Since I can’t delete the Home zone, I twiddled the radius and pressed “update” a week ago. Is there any other step I can take to “reconfigure” the zone?

How do I delete and re-add the “integration” on the iOS device? I did delete and reinstall the app. Is there another step or way to go about this for the integration as opposed to the app?

The only other step you mentioned that I hadn’t already taken was to clear the logs. I did so, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to have helped.

Update: possibly related to this?

In the logs, the device is exiting and entering home zone, but it remains “home”.

Almost certainly the same issue. You can look at the companion app logs to see if you notice the same logged message. There are some debug steps in that thread that will likely help you.
