iOS Focus Filter

Hello. I can’t find any documentation on this anywhere - so excuse me if you easily find it. Please point me in the right direction if so.

Otherwise - in iOS 27 I’m trying to set up a focus filter that reports the focus name to HA. There’s a focus filter, and options to set - but under focus name, there’s “no options available”. Anyone know how to set this up?

I want to be able to report specific focus names to HA which I’m is the point of this?

I only use it with the Sleep focus. I have setup a binary helper in HA. Using the Shortcuts app (and the Companion app) you can target the switch based on Sleep focus state. On or off.

I use sleep focus as a trigger but this seems to add options for so much more. But I can’t find any documentation on how to set it up.

Thanks to Claude - this is a TestFlight only feature under Labs. Not sure why it’s in the official release of iOS27.

I am not running a TestFlight version. Works fine.

  1. Added a binary helper switch in HA.
  2. Make sure the HA app is installed on your iPhone
  3. Open Shortcuts app
  4. Add an automation: when Sleep focus is enabled then change switch in HA you created in step 1.

You can create a second one for example when sleep focus is turned off. For me my bed lights turn on. When sleep focus is on, the adaptive lightning is set to sleep mode, etc.

I already use shortcuts as you describe - and this only works for Sleep mode.

In the new TestFlight version, it allows the iPhone to report back any Focus type.

Why it’s already in the iOS Focus settings when it’s a TestFlight option is beyond me.

But I am now using it and it works.
