iPad Header Size

I just got a new iPad and cannot figure out why the new one has a bigger header than the old one. It’s the same user and dashboard. Does anyone know how to shrink the bigger one?

As far as I can remember I’m not using any HACS-stuff. At least not Kiosk. It’s the exact same iPad model (Air 2) and the same iOS version. I migrated the old iPad.

I think I solved it. Running it in the browser, then saving it as an app-icon and then running it gave me back the slim header!

Just wondering… why you don’t use Home Assistant app? It has a “full screen” mode option.

I can’t remember if it was the native app or a webb clip that I used on the old iPad actually, but on the new one “full screen mode” doesn’t seem to solve the bigger header-issue for me.

I have the same problem! Ugly big header even when i hide it with the Browser Mod.
BUT I did not switch iPads!
I updated my HomeAssistant and with it I think also Kiosk Mode or Broswer Mod (can’t remember which one got an update)

So it seems to be on the HA side, not the ipad or ios App side.
Do you have Brsower Mod or Kiosk Mode installed?

edit:
Romeving both HACS apps did not fix the issue of the header. it’s still huge

Check in a safe mode (when no custom plugins are loaded).

Thank you for the Tip! Could have saved me from uninstalling the Stuff hihi.

But the issue persists in safe mode:/
Any ideas?

Then I would suggest you to register an issue on GitHub.
First I thought that I saw a similar issue, but it was about an extra space for a section. So, go ahead.

I made a complete backup of my SD card before I updated HA. I might roll back to the state before an pay close attention when the issue occurs. It’s defenately not a space or so. I did not change anything except update and it does work properly on the broswer. Just not in the App.

edit: On another note: My iPad appaerntly has automatic updates for apps activated and the App got an update today. Maybe this broke it.
Also this thread was opened 5 days ago and the Update dropped 6 days ago. I got mine updated today. I have my issue since today. It’s probably that. I’ll try to downgrade the app before i do anything else

yep, the recent update has caused it. yet to find a solution.

After experimenting A LOT (with downgrading both HA and the App and disabling and enabling a lot) I’m now 95% certain what caused the issue:

In the new App version (2026.4.0) the Toggle “Full Screen” in “General” in the companion App settings does not work anymore. I downgraded to Version 2026.2.1 for now uing TrollStore using an ipa from ipafilezone.su.
My old iPad Air 2 runs ios 15 with a Jailbreak so I don’t know how widely available the option for downgrading is and how TrollStroe works on newer devices and versions.

Side Note:
I use “Kiosk Mode” from HACS to Hide the Navigation Bar cause the “Broswer Mod” only hides the Nav Bar and also leaves an ugly gap.

The “Full Screen” mode seems to be broken in the newest version. At least for my. I tested quite rigorously and it seems to be the key factor why my header was big before I downgraded to the second newest version

Yeah, i’ve read about it… luckily for wall tablets i use androids, not apple, so i can use fully kiosk.

Just for the record I also have this 'double height header' issue on my HAss app. Also running an old Apple iPad Air 2 as a dedicated dashboard in my kitchen. I'm not jailbroken so cant downgrade. Did this get raised with the development team as a bug?

I have the same issue, solved it (workaround) by using a PWA instead of the companion app.
The app is still installed and running on the background for notifications.
