I have the IR blaster mentioned here, Which hardware to buy - IR blaster - #67 by IAmOrion. I have tried following his steps on putting the firmware on the Beken but am getting a error saying permission denied. I am new to all parts of this and am still trying to understand if this is what I need to do. I like the security aspect of esphome but will not be using it with home assistant. I just need a remote ird device that I can control through a vpn tunnel. Am I headed in the right direction by installing esp home on it? I was able to connect to it and do a backup by following his instructions. It is just replacing the firmware that fails.
