Understanding what a question mark at the end of a sentence means would help
you. I don’t want to be impolite but please don’t ask questions with a thesis, if
you want to understand.

I understand perfectly well, thanks. There’s nothing that prohibits anybody by responding to a question with a question.
You indirectly made a strong/bold claim (although one could say you softened it by making it a question):
Is HA spying on me?
You also said:
There is nothing about it in the HA’s docu on NetworkManager.
Which means, you didn’t find anything, which means, persisting your views moves the argument into conspriracy territory.
Any comments, opinions anyone?
You don’t seem interested in the comments or opinions counter to your beliefs – at least not without making personal remarks.

Thank you, zmodem. In contrast to most posters here, you understood what I was talking about.
Just to recap in my final post in this thread:
In this case it is not relevant at all who is spying at whom, which device/company/government/whatever is spying on me/us/the whole world.
Neither is, who is bad, who is really bad and who is really, really bad.
It is not relevant at all what most people think.
It reminds me of an very old joke about Windows users and 50 billion flies… ![]()
I know, when I’m using Google & Co. I’m giving away some of my privacy, it’s a trade-off, and it is my own decision.
If I don’t want to give away even more of my privacy, I don’t use any of the “social media”. It is also my decision.
(Despite the fact I don’t need them, have a real life.)
When i discovered those heartbeats from NetworkManager I was just disappointed that HA didn’t tell me about it. That’s all.
Do I like it? No. Is it harmful? Doesn’t matter. Is it OK because others are doing worse things? No.
Thanks for iptables advices and such.
It takes ~20 lines of Python to set up an own server (returning “NetworkManager is online\n”) and point NetworkManager to it.
But again, it was about something else.
As zmodem also pointed out, some of you completely missed the point.

Chris
