Looking for some advice, I have 2 zones in my house, main house and an annex which I would like to air B&B. I do not want all the main house smart stuff showing on the annex home assistant. Is there a way to keep them both separate but use the same home assistant server (green box). TIA
Just have the annex on a different user without admin access and restrict the dashboards they can view and have a separate dash for the annex.
But yes you can run as many instances as you want, you will need to give them different hostnames. You can join them together but you will need to keep swapping between each setup when you want to check something.
That is not ideal. If they know what they are doing they can still access any entity.
Docker?
You could just get another “PC” to install HA on. Used. Nothing fancy. Just whatever.
Another option is use API and create a local only web interface that only shows the entities for ABnB residence. Not sure what all you want exposed for guests. Lights are easy but media will make this complex.
HA has no true user management. All users may gain full access. Application also runs as root and you may get some “curious” guests. Expect them to get bored and look to exploit your home, not just the ABnB. 2 words: fire and wall
I know the price for memory has skyrocketed in the last few weeks, but all that time custom configuring the proffered suggestions, just to save buying another slightly more expensive Raspberry Pi and be done with it?
Just add $5 to your AirBnB prices and recoup it in a few stays.
