Is it possible to use RPi as esphome device?

Hi everyone,
this may sound strange since the RPi is not an esp device, but since it has GPIOs, is it possible to use the RPi as esphome device directly?

My use cases are that I want to use it as a hub, which does not require additional hardware but just the esphome firmware and also connect my RF transceiver to it to control my garage door.

I do have esp devices but it seems redundant to add another device if the always-on RPi could perform those tasks directly.

No, different CPU architecture.

You can run ESPHome on a Pi by compiling for the host platform. But there is currently no host platform gpio support.
