Is Local Only Control Possible for Bosch or Miele Dishwashers?

After two plus years without a dishwasher I am tired of washing dishes by hand.

Have go to the big box stores looking for a dishwasher but they all seem to be poorly made and the racks very flimsy.

People are suggesting Bosch or Miele for performance and longevity. Both are pricey propositions but not that much more than what is available from the big box stores.

Compared to the Miele the Bosch is less expensive BUT I have not pulled the trigger due to a number of its features being available only through the use of the Bosch Home Connect App and Cloud service.

So my question is this is it possible to control either of the dishwashers without a cloud account or the use of their apps and if so how?

There is an HACS integration with local control for Bosch Home Connect devices.

Am I mistaken but this seems like a read only solution, meaning that HCPY can only read the status of the appliance and not actually control it.

I could be wrong but it’s listed under the starting programme part?

I’m not actually using the integrations to start my dishwasher. I have a fixed 2-5am slot with cheaper electricity, configured that slot in the Home Connect app, and when I turn the dishwasher on it automatically delays the start until that time.

I haven’t been able to find great examples of how to use the HCPY integration so a lot of my automations have been created via tinkering and trial and error. I was finally successful in setting up an Aqara zigbee button that toggles an input boolean for a dishwasher delay setting, and then another automation that actually starts the dishwasher at 2:00 am if the “dishwasher delay” input boolean is set to true.

My automation to actually set it to run sets the ActiveProgram for the dishwasher, then uses a button press to press the ResumeProgram button for the dishwasher. It has worked without fail for a few months for me. Let me know if I can help with any details about how I have it set up.
