I am having problems connecting remotely today. Is Nabu Casa not connecting for others as well?
Working for me.
Wow! Now that is useful! Thank you!
I am not sure what the cause of the down system was. I left my phone on allowing it to continue to retry connection over and over. After about 30 minutes, it logged in with just the New Clock card not being recognized in the dashboard. Closing the HA instance and reopening it, the New Clock card was recognized.
Not sure of the cause or why I could not connect, but it is fixed and I learned how to check on status (Thanks Sir).
One final question… I am new to HA and Nabu Casa. I am using Nabu Casa as my gateway to external HA connection and access to items like Amazon Alexa integration. Is it common to have troubles connecting through Nabu Casa (in other words, should I find some other way to connect to HA externally) or is it a fairly rare occurrence? I do not mind at all supporting Nabu Casa monetarily, but I do want a stable connection as well.
Are you also using PiHole or AdGuard DNS-man-in-the-middle software? It is the #1 cause of this type of thing which appears to me like it could be DNS connection issues.
Sir,
No I am not. Heck, I am not even sure what those things are.
I have never had problems connecting before using both the Companion App and through a browser, in this case Chrome. In this instance, my cursor would just go in continuous circles until it timed out and tried again 45 seconds later. Did this for about 30 minutes (no changes on my part) until for some reason it logged in. During that 30 minutes, I had changed my phone connection from WiFi to cellular (5G) and back to WiFi again. This seemed to make no difference.
For future issues, there is an official troubleshooting guide here: Support
No, it is exceedingly rare.
Where? What page?
Tom_I,
That is great to know as well! Thank you. Nabu Casa connection makes connecting to HA very convenient and the ALEXA integration is very simple with it. I am happy to support such a great effort and also get such a wonderful benefit in return.
Tom… also I had found the Support link you gave. Problem with the support link is if you are outside your network (e.g., at work) when you discover you cannot connect, there is no apparent way to get to your system logs since you cannot bring up HA.
That’s why I have another always on PC on my network I can remote into.
LOL… Be careful Tom. Someone is going to make a meme out of you with that much “dedication”.
