Is the Conditional Card the best way to show an action on the Dashboard?

Please pardon me if this is a stupid question. I did not know what to search for so I decided to try to just ask here.

I have an Entity that I use to determine if power is going to my washing machine. I can very easily place on my dashboard that entity with its wattage showing. Example:

Washing Machine Plug Power 1.7W

However, I would like to actually place on my Dashboard whether the Washing Machine is running or not utilizing the Plugs Power. For instance if the plug’s power is currently showing 1.7W, I want my dashboard to say:

The Washing Machine is currently Off

If the plug’s power is above 5W, I want my dashboard to say:

The Washing Machine is currently running

I could probably get by doing this with a Conditional Card using the plug’s power as the condition and calling a Heading card that matched that condition. However that would mean that I would need two conditional cards for each of the above conditions.

Is there an easier way to do this that I am just not seeing? I know you guys have probably done this a 1000 times on your own dashboard, but I just do not see what the easy way would be.

Thanks in advance for putting up with my question.

What should it say between 1.7-5W?

Regarding the dashboard, if you want to use a Heading card there is no need for a Conditional card, the Heading card includes a visibility option.

You may also want to take a look into Templating. It is one of the most powerful tools in Home Assistant for custom and/or dynamic values. There are community resources available that cover some of the basics of templating.

@Didgeridrew I was just giving a made-up example. Was not trying to figure out the logistics of whether the washing machine was on or off. I was just trying to figure out an easy way to show a “more friendly” message on the dashboard given a condition of an entity.

As for the Heading card, that is Brilliant! I have no idea why I did not just think of the visibility option.

Back to the pressing question, is that the easiest way to present this message on the dashboard by using a Heading card? Is there anything else that I may do that would be better?

Both “easiest” and “better” are very subjective… and there a bunch of options when it come to dashboard stuff. It would help us if you would narrow down the field by telling us what cards you are using/want to use/don’t want to use.

For example, most of my dashboard is Mushroom and Tile cards, so I would just use a Mushroom template card like:
