Is there a way to integrate a generic thermometer (NOT thermostat)

Hello all,

Is there a way to setup a simple thermometer within HA? I can think of a few use-cases, like measuring temperatures in different rooms, meat/candy thermometers, home brewing, etc. It could be generic, but it doesn’t seem like the current “Generic Thermostat” would work, as it also acts as a control for the heat/cooling; this would be strictly a temperature “reader.” If there is a way to do this already with the Generic Thermostat Component, I apologize (some enlightenment on how that’s possible would be great). If not, I could try to help work on a new component to get it added.

I think how the thermometer will transmit its data will determine how you integrate it into HA. If you google “MQTT Thermometer” or “iot Thermometer” there are a couple of DIY projects that you could probably rework for your intended use.
