Is this a viable plan to integrate Hubitat with a new Home Assistant Green?

I have a Hubitat C8 Pro with 83 devices all functioning extremely well. BUT, I’ve read so many interesting things about Home Assistant I want it! I initially was going to move all my devices over to HA, and re-write all of my rules but decided it would be too time consuming and risking the solid performance of the Hubitat. Then I read about HACS having Hubitat integration, which allows HE devices/entities to be brought into HA.

So using the HA Hubitat Integration does this sound feasible:

-Setup an HA Green on my network.
-HA would detect the Wi-Fi devices on my network during setup I presume.
-Install the Hubitat Integration on HA.
-Have access to my existing 83 device in Hubitat on HA for automations.
-I would not have to install any antenna on the HA Green since the devices are in Hubitat.

Please let me know if the above sounds feasible or not. I really hope so!

-Thanks

UPDATE: I found the complete installation instructions here:

I commented in your other similar thread that I use Hubitat primarily but have some things set up in Home Assistant using the Hubitat integration. I have never noticed any lights being slower turning on/off in Home Assistant than when turning on/off in Hubitat.

This method saves you from having to buy a zigbee or Z-Wave antenna and you can always change your mind down the road and spend the extra money for them and stop relying on Hubitat.

Wish I would have started out with Home Assistant. But I think this will minimize the frustration of migrating and provide time to become familiar with HA, while keeping my smart home intact.

-Thanks

Can you tell me if Home Assistant, when integrated with the Hubitat, can see device parameters that Hubitat cannot? For example I have an Aqara water sensor paired with my Hubitat that is unable to see the battery level. I also have an Aqara T1 valve controller that Hubitat uses a “generic Zigbee switch” driver for which does not see many of the devices parameters.

-Thanks

For questions like you should ask on the Github or try tagging the developer of the integration here. There is also probably a thread that he/she created when he introduced it to community.

I thought maybe since you had a Hubitat integrated with Home Assistant you might be able to tell me. Thanks anyway.

Not familiar with Hubitat but my guess would be that it doesn’t show them then Home Assistant won’t see them through the integration. Nothing lost by trying it, and if you like it you can move the devices in your own time. I did same with Philips Hue devices, but once I’d done a few I just bit the bullet and carried on.

Thanks. That’s the plan! I can do things slowly with minimal disruption to my smart home. I’m really curious to try the automation editor, and a lot of other HA features.
