Is this HA tee shirt site legitimate?

I ordered a HA tee shirt almost 3 weeks ago, and the status is still “in production”. I started at this link:

Home Assistant t-shirts have arrived! - Home Assistant

Then wound up at:
Home Assistant Store

So, I sent an email to creator-spring.com and found that their address is:
[email protected][email protected]

Spring is actually spri.ng. The ng being Nigeria!

I’ve tried chatting with them at creator-spring.com and still no reply to the email. Being Nigerian does not bode well for being a legitimate business.

Can anyone tell me of the above links are legitimate?

The blog post looks legit, although it is from 2017. It’s hard to say if they’re still doing t-shirts seven years later.

A quick Google search for that site gives similar experiences to what you are having. Considering the blog post is 8 years old, there’s a good chance it’s an entirely different owner/company to who HA partnered with back then.

I’d cancel the charge on your credit card ASAP and let them sort it out.

I flagged your post for moderator attention, I don’t think the Open Home Foundation would be happy about someone using them to rip people off… if that is in fact what’s happening. Either way you should get some clarity.

Missy will be responding in the morning.

This is probably good advice for now:

While it does not actually appear to be a scam site the reviews on trustpilot indicate severe customer service issues and massive delays. You might get your shirt eventually. Home Assistant may not get paid for it though by the looks of some of the creator reviews.

The 5 star reviews look paid for. Pretty much everything else is 1 star.

Thanks everyone, glad I pointed this out! I’m going to dispute the charge and cancel the debit card.

I ordered an HA t-shirt several months ago, it was still “in production” after a month despite Teespring stating they guarantee all orders ship within 10 working days. Looking around on the Internet it seems like the company has gone down the pan since being sold with lots of reports of people waiting up to six months for a t-shirt and the company not paying royalties out to creators. After going around in circles with support bots I finally got a refund about 8 weeks after the order was placed.

Yea, I sent them email about cancelling the order and the address had:

Spri.ng

Looks like “Spring”, but the ng is the country code for Nigeria!

@zBernie That is the “official” store, but we removed it from our home page recently as it was causing these problems with others. We’re in the process of building up our new merch store - I’m going to suggest we just shut this one down this week.

We have no direct way to help you out here, unfortunately, only their support paths. I advise people to cancel the order or request a chargeback with their credit card in these cases.

If you send me a DM, we can chat about me getting you some stickers or something as an apology in the interim. Super sorry to see you got caught up in this. :see_no_evil:

Glad I could help put an end to this nefarious website. I already requested that the payment be cancelled and I cancelled the debit card involved and got a new one. Thanks for the sticker offer but I already have couple!

It’s still linked to as “Merchandise” in the About section of Home Assistant itself too, that’s where I clicked through to it when I tried to buy one.

Ah, shit, yeah? I’ll mention it to my team, too.
