ISBG + SpamAssassin

I have a raspberry pi running Thunderbird and one docker container of isbg, which is a utility that filters through one’s IMAP email account(s) and processes the inbox through SpamAssassin to serve as a spam filter. The utility also allows for a “ham” folder into which the user can manually place emails that were falsely-identified as spam, so SpamAssasin can learn to ignore such emails.

It seems that the docker container comprises at least two separate utilities, isbg and IMAPfilter. Here is the github page.

It would be nice if this utility could be made into an add-on. And furthermore, it would be nice if that add-on could also allow for manual entry of spam identifiers. For instance, if the subject features a word with an underscore as a prefix.

I could add an entry in my ISP’s spam filter rules to look for _Home, or _H, but I don’t believe I can make a rule that looks for _* or _######, etc…

The manual entry ability would be nice icing on the cake, but would take time to implement, whereas I think someone could easily take the isbg docker container I linked-to above and turn that into an add-on. That would be neat.

By the way, if you try that docker container, be careful if you use the example config in the accounts folder of the github page, which features the mailLifetime variable. That will trim your inbox down to the designated number of days and you will lose your history. Just leave it out of your config altogether, because I tried 300,000 and it trimmed my inbox down to 0. I had to restore from backup a second time.

None of this is Home Assistant related.

I’m going to move this to the third party category.
Your best bet to find help with this would be there, or possibly Social.

Thank you. Please pardon the oversight.

It’s not a bad idea, so I’m still rooting for it.
Just didn’t fit over there.
