The option to change the Variable Sensor String from the default “HA.” to something else is only available after the integration has been installed and everything has been loaded. Because I’m not using the default “HA.” (I assume), it doesn’t doesn’t bring in any of my variables as helpers. I did change the string to what I need it to be but, even after a reload, the ISY variables with the prefix I set do not end up as helpers.
What am I supposed to do? Is there a way to have the integration re-initialize itself and bring in the variables loading after a change is made to the string in the options?
Ideally, I would suggest the option should be listed as part of the initial config (along with ISY IP address, etc.) and should also work after a change to the string is made. But neither is the case. I shouldn’t have to go into my ISY and change all my variables (about 150) to match the default (which does appears to be changeable). Why would this be changeable if changing it doesn’t do anything?
Is this really a suggestion for change? It seems more like there’s either a bug or a user training issue - and I came here assume the latter.
One shouldn’t be given the impression that one can change a parameter that one can’t. If the Variable Sensor String must be “HA.” because nothing else will work, I would have thought the integration would say that. It also would not be providing a changeable field giving the illusion that something else can be used when it can’t.
Are you sure this is not just something I’m not doing right?
Suggestion, feature request, all go there.
If you think it’s a bug or documentation problem, it goes to issues tab right next to that in GitHub.
None of that stuff is seen properly here.
As you have not found anyone to help with how to do that here, I estimate that one of the GitHub links is the best place to sort it out.
