Hi all,
I’ve published an ESPHome external component that turns an ESP32 on the Jura service port into a replacement for the Smart Connect dongle. No Bluetooth, no app, no cloud. It’s fully standalone and runs locally.
What it does
- Speaks Jura’s native encrypted dongle protocol over the UART: the same handshake and @-commands the official dongle uses.
- Has a built-in database of 75 Jura machines. The machine reports its model and the right profile (products, options, alerts) loads automatically, with no per-model config.
- Publishes to MQTT with Home Assistant / openHAB auto-discovery:
- total and per-product counters, maintenance counters and %
- alerts (no beans, empty grounds, fill water, …) and status
- brew progress (%, phase, product)
- brewing (optional): pick a product, strength, temperature and amount, then press Brew
- panel lock switch (optional)
Hardware: any ESP32 (tested on an ESP32-C3) on the service-port UART, 9600 8N1.

Tested on a Jura S8 (EF536). The other machines are in the database, but reports from other models are very welcome. Please open an issue with your model and a log.

Thanks to Jutta-Proto, makefu/jura-connect, COM8 and ryanalden, whose work made this possible.
Unofficial, use at your own risk. Brewing and panel lock are off by default.
