Just added Alexa to HA - app works but voice doesn't

I am an Insteon user making the switch to HA. I enabled the Alexa skill last night and discovered all my HA devices.

If I access the devices from the Alexa app, everything works as expected.

If I use voice commands, Alexa responds with, “Hmm, I couldn’t reach the [thing]. To fix this, open the Alexa app and re-enable the skill.” Clearly the skill is already active since it works in the app.

What am I missing?

Apparently skills and devices are specific to Alexa accounts. If you have multiple accounts on the same Alexa device, you must either switch to the account with the correct devices, or independently add the HA skill and discover the same devices for each account that could be active.

This is a maintenance problem since it’s redundant setup and very easy for the accounts to get out of sync.
